Rep. Pressel issues statement following committee hearing on utilities' storm response
Note to the Press – State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie), member of the House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee, issued the below statement after Tuesday's interim study committee hearing on utility preparedness and response following the August storms impacting Northwest Indiana.
STATEHOUSE (Sept. 30, 2026) – "It is dangerous and unacceptable for any Hoosier to go two weeks without electricity. I appreciate the committee's work today to examine what happened and how we can improve our storm response going forward. I am eager to see the results of the IURC's external investigation and stand ready to take legislative action if needed to ensure our utilities are prepared to effectively respond and better serve Hoosiers during severe weather."
