The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct an in-person public information meeting in Groton concerning intersection improvements on Route 614 at the intersections of I-95 Northbound and Southbound Ramps and Sandy Hollow Road, on Thursday, December 10, 2026.
The meeting will be held at the Thrive55+ Active Living Center: Powered by Groton Senior Center at 102 Newtown Road in Groton. The meeting location is ADA accessible. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an open house forum, followed by a formal presentation starting at 7:00 p.m. and an additional question and answer session after the presentation.

“This project will improve safety and reduce congestion at the intersections by installing three modern roundabouts and a continuous pedestrian and bicyclist path,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Joseph D. Arsenault. “Modern roundabouts have an 80% reduction in fatal and serious injuries at formerly stop-controlled intersections, according to the Federal Highway Administration. We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
Minor right-of-way impacts are anticipated in the vicinity of the intersection of Route 614 with Sandy Hollow Road.
Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2029, subject to the availability of funding, acquisition of right(s)-of-way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $16 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
